Germany job-search opportunity card
Two ways into Germany's opportunity card: those already counted as skilled workers need no points, everyone else must reach six on the points table. It is a job-search permit, not a permit for full employment.

Two ways in: those already counted as skilled workers, with a recognized qualification or a degree comparable to a German one, need no points; everyone else must reach six points.
Points come from partial recognition of the qualification (4); German at B2 (3), B1 (2) or A2 (1); English at C1 (1); five or more years of relevant experience (3) or two or more (2); a qualification in a shortage occupation (1); being under 35 (2) or under 40 (1); a previous stay in Germany of at least six months (1); and a spouse or partner applying at the same time (1).
The minimum is German at A1 or English at B2.
Proof of funds for the whole stay is required, set at €1,091 a month for 2026.
The job-search card runs up to one year, and a follow-up card of up to two years can follow it.
While holding the card you may work in a secondary occupation averaging no more than 20 hours a week, and take trial employment of up to two weeks at a time. It is not a permit for full employment.
